New\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/psyarxiv.com\/qrjza\/\">research<\/a>\u00a0from Oxford University has delivered a surprising finding; time spent playing games is positively associated with wellbeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/psyarxiv.com\/qrjza\/\">study<\/a>&nbsp;is the first of its kind. Rather than asking players how much they play, it uses industry data on actual play time for popular video games&nbsp;<em>Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Animal Crossing: New Horizons.<\/em>&nbsp;The study suggests that experiences of competence and social connection with others through play may contribute to people\u2019s wellbeing.
